No. If you have a medical emergency, you should dial 999 or go straight to A&E.
We aim to get your test results to you as quickly as possible.
ECG reports from a senior cardiologist can be available within 20 minutes
We send blood samples to a nearby private laboratory, and you can expect results within 24 hours. We’ll always schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss them with you.
We don’t offer specific pregnancy services such as scans or monitoring. However, we can help you with acute conditions such as colds, urine infections, and minor injuries in pregnancy.
No, booking a private doctor’s appointment will not affect your NHS care. You’re free to see any healthcare provider you choose, be they NHS or private. However, it’s important to stay registered with an NHS GP. We always recommend sharing private consultation notes with your NHS GP so they retain a complete picture of your healthcare.
Our focus is on urgent care for immediate needs and acute illness.
We are unable to provide care for chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, hypertension and diabetes. This is because we do not have access to NHS notes and are therefore unable to see your current or prior care plan. We also respect your GP’s ongoing management plan.
However, if you experience an acute deterioration in your symptoms, such as an increased difficulty breathing with asthma, we can help you straight away. You can book an appointment for the same day, or whenever suits you best.
If you have a medical emergency, you should dial 999 or go straight to A&E without delay.
This test aims to identify any upper respiratory tract infections you may have. It’s ideal for patients who have persistent or recurring symptoms such as coughs or nasal discharge.
We take swabs from your throat and nose, which are then tested for 22 different viral and bacterial pathogens. It will help determine if you require antibiotics or not.
We are looking for pathogens (usually bacteria) which cause urinary tract infections, along with resistance genes which indicate that specific antibiotics may not work.
By identifying the pathogen which is causing your infection and eliminating any antibiotics it is resistant to, we can give you more effective treatment and a quicker recovery.
Please note that we will provide you with a sterile container to collect your sample. You will receive your results within 48 hours.
We aim to get your test results to you as quickly as possible, for example:
- Standard urine analysis results will be available within 48 hours, with specialised urine test results taking up to 72 hours.
- ECG reports from a senior cardiologist can be available within 20 minutes.
- We send blood samples to a nearby private laboratory, and you can expect most results within 24 hours. Please note that specialised blood tests, including cancer screening, may take up to 6 weeks.
We will always schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss the results with you.
We don’t have the equipment to do these at our practice but can refer you to a local private hospital for imaging. Once completed, we’ll book you in for a second appointment at MediCentre to discuss your results.
Charges for referrals and consultation appointments can be found in our price list.

Booking a health review with us is easy – book online or call us on 01903 32 20 20.
Our lines are open from 8:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 8:30am to 2pm on Saturdays, with appointments available from 9am.
Your health review will take 40 minutes, although, in some circumstances, follow up appointments may be required for tests or test results.
We will be able to review some test results straight away. For blood tests and other samples, we send them to a nearby laboratory and you’ll get those results within 24 hours, although some specialised tests may take longer to analyse. If a follow-up appointment is needed, this will be booked during your review, to coincide with when results are expected.
Some of our health review include the option for genetic testing to identify whether you have an increased risk of developing certain conditions, such as cancer and heart disease.
Making the decision to have a genetic test is difficult. You should carefully weigh up the advantages and disadvantages. You may wish to book a pre-review consultation to discuss this with us or we can recommend counsellors you can speak to.
Vaccinations are on an appointment-only basis. Appointments must be made and paid for in advance to allow us time to order and take delivery of the required vaccine, as we don’t keep all vaccines in stock. Payments for vaccine orders are non-refundable.
Please call us on 01903 32 20 20 to book your appointment or to check if we can offer vaccinations which are not listed.
If a course of vaccinations is required, we can either book all the appointments during your initial phone call, or once your first dose has been administered.
It’s best to book your travel vaccination appointment well in advance, ideally 8 to 12 weeks before you travel. Some vaccines need multiple doses over a few weeks for full protection. This way, you’re fully covered and ready to go.
Call us on 01903 32 20 20 to make an appointment to discuss your vaccination requirements with one of our clinicians.
If you have it, please bring your vaccination history with you to your appointment.
The cost of vaccinations depends upon the vaccine and the number of doses required.
